This is a fine quality Banjara shoulder bag from the 80’s. It features a variety of traditonal ethnic tribal textile details including hand embroidery and intricate mirror work. Cowrie shells are used in decorating this wonderful bag. It's in a unique combination of colors: saffron yellow mixed with fuscia & purple!

This large bag measures 26 inches in length by 16 inches in height. The 2 shoulder straps extend 12 inches beyond the top of the bag. The design reminds me of a floral geometric pattern-large discs of color with mirror centers. It is truly one of a kind!

This bag is newly lined in maroon cotton with an inside zip pocket. There is a sturdy zip closure at the top of the bag.

In India for millenia young women have been stitching and embroidering works of textile art as part of their wedding “trousseau”. Wall hangings and “Chakla” squares as well as “Chanderwah” blanket covers are all part of this rich tradtion.
