This traditional hand painted art form from India is called "Pichwai".
Crushed stone colors & natural pigments are made into a painting medium (gouache) & painted on fabric "canvas" including cotton & silk.
Other types of paint such as acrylics may be combined or substituted, depending on the artist.
Traditional vintage Pichwai art was rarely if ever signed by the painter.
Due to its devotional nature it was not regarded as personal artistic statement.
This piece, which I acquired in India, dates from the 1980's. It is in very good condition as seen in the photos. Minor Wear commensurate with age.
See Photo #4: There are stains visible where the border was originally fit into a stretcher. These blemishes would not be visible after reframing or remounting.
27 inches in height by 21 inches width.
You can stretch it and staple the edges to a store bought canvas art frame.
This is a one of a kind piece.
It can also be displayed as a wall hanging or fine art tapestry.
Your pichwai will be shipped rolled on a roller inside a rigid mailing tube.
Exactly as shown in photos. What you see is what you get.
